Officers Pull Over Speeding Car And Find Stabbing Victim

SAN DIEGO, CA — Homicide detectives in San Diego were investigating the stabbing death of a man found bleeding in the passenger seat of a car pulled over for a traffic stop.

The discovery was made about 3:45 p.m. when patrol officers from the Mid-City Division stopped a red Ford Focus near the intersection of El Cajon Boulevard and Texas Street for infractions including speeding, according to San Diego police Lt. Jud Campbell.

"When officers contacted the occupants of the vehicle, they discovered that the only passenger in the vehicle was injured and bleeding heavily from what appeared to be at least one stab wound to his lower body," Campbell said. He was a man who appeared to be in his late 20s.

Officers worked to save the man's life until paramedics arrived and took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the lieutenant said. His name was not released.

El Cajon Boulevard was closed between Louisiana and Arizona streets and Texas Street was closed between Meade and Howard avenues for the homicide investigation.

Suspect information was not available and detectives were working to determine where the stabbing occurred, Campbell said.
