Otay Mesa Port Of Entry Reopens After Suspicious Package Prompts Closure
Police had urged people to avoid the Otay Mesa area and expect delays.
SAN DIEGO, CA — The Otay Mesa Port of Entry fully reopened to pedestrian and vehicle traffic Wednesday morning after a suspicious package prompted a temporary closure, police said.
All closures related to the package were lifted, and eastbound state Route 905 to the port of entry reopened about 10:55 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
The port of entry had been closed earlier Wednesday while authorities investigated the suspicious package. Travelers attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border were directed to use the San Ysidro Port of Entry during the closure.
