Over 2,385 Units Collected During San Diego Comic-Con Blood Drive

The 47th annual​ Comic-Con Robert A. Heinlein Blood Drive was held Wednesday through Sunday at the Manchester Grand Hyatt.

SAN DIEGO, CA — More than 2,385 units of blood were collected during the Comic-Con Robert A. Heinlein Blood Drive, the San Diego Blood Bank announced Monday.

The 47th annual blood drive was held Wednesday through Sunday at the Manchester Grand Hyatt. Donors received a limited-edition Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 T-shirt, according to the blood bank.

"We are extremely thankful to the donors and our partners at Comic-Con for their support in making this drive successful for the 47th year in a row," San Diego Blood Bank CEO Doug Morton said in a statement. "The generosity and commitment shown by these superheroes who donated blood at this drive will save many lives throughout the summer."

Since 1976, donors at Comic-Con have donated more than 65,210 pints of blood during the Comic-Con Robert A. Heinlein Blood Drive.

Anyone who donates blood at any San Diego Blood Bank donation location or mobile blood drive through Aug. 31 will receive the limited-edition shirt while supplies last, according to the blood bank. Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 114 pounds and be in general good health.
