Vandal Glues Over 200 Doors Shut At San Diego School: Police

SAN DIEGO, CA — More than 200 doors at a San Diego school were glued shut in an act of vandalism that caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage, and authorities are now asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect responsible.

The vandalism occurred between 1 and 3 a.m. May 26 at the campus at 6702 Wandermere Drive in the San Carlos neighborhood, according to the San Diego Unified School District Police Department and San Diego County Crime Stoppers.

Investigators said the suspect applied a sticky substance to more than 200 door locks, causing permanent damage. Authorities estimate the damage at approximately $70,000.

School surveillance cameras captured images of the suspect, who was described as a male of unknown age wearing a face covering, a hooded sweatshirt with the letter "B," baggy pants and sneakers. Investigators said the suspect arrived and left in a sedan believed to be a 2010-2020 model with tinted windows.

Anyone with information on the identity or location of the suspect or vehicle was asked to call the San Diego Unified School District Police Department at 619-291-7678 or the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at 888-580- 8477. Information leading to an arrest could qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
