Willauer-Contributing Writer-Ventura College Basketball Tournament-On Thursday, November 2nd the Comets of Palomar College opened the season as they defeated LA Valley College by a 95-78 score, Jackson Strong led the Comets with 31 points and 10 boards, teammate and former San Marcos High product Mark Meyers contributed with 13.
In the second round, the Comets lost in overtime to Orange Glen College by an 87-85 score. LaVelle Coleman Bell led with 25 points for Palomar, Jackson Strong contributed with 18 and Matt Meyers out of San Marcos High contributed with 13. Corday Fairley contributed with 11.
The Palomar Comets improve their record to 2-1 on the season behind 20 point performance by LaVale Coleman Ball, 17 by Jackson Strong and 14 by Matt Meyers as they defeated Antelope Valley College by a 77-74 score.

The Lady Comets of Palomar opened their basketball season as defeated Santa Ana by a 78-56 score. Nia De La Pena Thompson led with 14 points, Clarissa Tate contributed with 11, former Mission Hills standout Monica Todd with 13, Quinesha Van Hook contributed with 10.
In the Mount San Jacinto Ladies Basketball Tournament on Friday, November 10, 2017, the Lady Comets of Palomar defeated Barstow College by a 89-51 score. Vinessa Perryman led the Lady Comets with 20 points by Kendall Crosby out of Rancho Buena Vista and 10 by Tianna Shaw.

On Saturday, November 11, 2017, the Lady Comets of Palomar improve their record to 3-0 at the Mount San Jacinto Tournament as they defeated Chaffey College by a 95-41 score. Vinessa Perryman led with 19 points, 11 by Clarissa Tate, 10 points by former Mission Hills product Monica Todd and Andrea Larent, 15 by Nia Della Pena Thompson.
