Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Car In San Diego's Chollas View

Authorities Tuesday publicly identified a man who was fatally injured when a car struck him on a Chollas View-area street.

SAN DIEGO — Authorities Tuesday publicly identified a man who was fatally injured when a car struck him on a Chollas View-area street.

Douglas Munz, 63, was hit by a southbound 2016 Cadillac sedan at 10 p.m. Monday as he was trying to cross Euclid Avenue mid-block near Hilltop Drive, according to San Diego police and the county Medical Examiner's Office.

The 26-year-old man behind the wheel of the vehicle pulled over and made a 911 call to report the accident, officials said.

Munz, who was believed to be homeless, was taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Intoxication "was not a factor" in the fatality, SDPD Officer John Buttle said.
