Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Vehicles On I-805 In Kearny Mesa

The man was trying to cross Interstate 805 in Kearny Mesa several hours before sunrise, authorities reported.

SAN DIEGO, CA — Two vehicles hit a pedestrian Monday, killing him, as he was trying to cross Interstate 805 in Kearny Mesa several hours before sunrise, authorities reported.

The unidentified victim, described only as male, was walking across the northbound side of the freeway just south of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard when he was struck by a Mazda CX-5 and a Lexus IS250 about 4:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. He died at the scene.

"The driver(s) ... remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation and were determined to not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs," CHP public-affairs Officer Salvador Castro said.
