Pedestrian Fatally Struck By SUV On SR-94 In Jamul

JAMUL, CA — A pedestrian was fatally struck by an SUV Thursday on a rural road in eastern San Diego County.

The 55-year-old El Cajon man was crossing a dimly lit stretch of state Route 94 near Hillside Drive in Jamul when the eastbound 2017 Hyundai Tucson hit him about 4:15 a.m. Thursday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The victim died at the scene, CHP public-affairs Officer Jasmine Lopez said. His name was withheld pending family notification.

Intoxication was not a factor in the fatality, Lopez said.
