Pedestrian​ Killed In San Diego Traffic Fatality

A 54-year-old pedestrian was killed as he crossed the street in the Clairemont Mesa East neighborhood of San Diego Thursday evening.

SAN DIEGO, CA — A 54-year-old pedestrian was killed as he crossed the street in the Caliremont Mesa East neighborhood of San Diego Thursday evening.

A 28-year-old woman was driving a 2017 Nissan Sentra eastbound at 7:12 p.m. in the 5400 block of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard when the man ran out in front of the car from the center island and was struck by the Nissan, said Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital where he later died.

It is unknown if the driver was detained.
