Pedestrian Struck By Vehicle Near City Heights Intersection

A pedestrian was struck and seriously injured by a vehicle near a City Heights intersection.

SAN DIEGO — A pedestrian suffered serious injuries Wednesday morning when he was struck by a Toyota sedan near a City Heights intersection.

The 25-year-old driver called dispatchers around 5:20 a.m. to report that he had struck a man while heading east on Home Avenue near Euclid Avenue, San Diego police Sgt. Matt Botkin said.
The pedestrian was crossing the roadway, 10News reported.

The victim, whose name and age were not immediately available, was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, including a fractured right knee and a fractured pelvis, the sergeant said.

The driver, whose name was not released, remained at the scene and cooperated with officers, Botkin said.

Police shut down both directions of Home Avenue between Euclid Avenue and 47th Street for the crash investigation. All lanes were reopened by 7:50 a.m.
