Poway House Fire Displaces Family Of Four
The fire caused so much damage that the structure was likely to be a complete loss, officials said.
POWAY, CA — A late-morning fire extensively damaged a home in a neighborhood near Poway Center for the Performing Arts Wednesday, displacing a family of four, authorities reported.
The non-injury blaze erupted at about 10:15 a.m. Wednesday in the 1300 block of Vista Poniente Drive, west of Espola Road and north of Twin Peaks Road, according to the Poway Fire Department. The residents of the two-story house were not home at the time, said Rodney Ortiz, a battalion chief with the agency.
It took crews about 40 minutes to subdue the flames, which caused so much damage that the structure was likely to be a complete loss, Ortiz said.

The American Red Cross was called in to help the two adults and two teenagers who lived in the home arrange for emergency shelter.
The cause of the fire -- which appeared to have originated on the first floor of the house, possibly in the kitchen -- remained under investigation in the mid-afternoon, Ortiz said.
