SAN DIEGO, CA — Authorities Thursday were investigating a "violent incident" that happened on a San Diego highway.

The incident was reported at about 8:35 p.m. Tuesday on southbound Interstate 805 to the state Route 94 connector ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol. A woman who was driving a Toyota Corolla with two passengers said she was being followed by a pick-up truck.

"As she transitioned to the SR-94 eastbound, the victim heard her two rear windows breaking," CHP Officer Salvador Castro said. "An inspection of the windows by CHP officers revealed the damage was caused by an unknown projectile."
