Rebecca Jade Tops List Of San Diego Music Awards Nominees With 5

Jade was nominated in the Song of the Year category, along with Best Video, and R&B Funk or Soul Song for "What's It Gonna Be."

Singer Rebecca Jade leads the nominees for the 31st annual San Diego Music Awards with five nods, followed by rockers Mrs. Henry with four.

Jade was nominated as a solo artist in the Song of the Year category, along with Best Video, and R&B Funk or Soul Song for “What’s It Gonna Be.” In fact, she was nominated three times in the latter category; she performs as a featured artist on the nominated songs “Toes in the Sand,” by Jas Miller, and “When the Battle is Over,” by the Sully Band.

Mrs. Henry received nominations for Album of the Year, Rock Album of the Year, Best Rock Artist and Best Video.

Other top-nominated artists include:

  • Crhymes – Hip-Hop/Rap Song, Best Hip-Hop/Rap Artist, World Music Album (collaboration)
  • Riston Diggs – Album of Year, Best Hip-hop/Rap Artist, Hip-Hop/Rap Album
  • Nights Like Thieves – Best Video, Rock Album, Best Rock Artist
  • Sara Petite – Album of Year, Best Country or Americana Artist, Country or Americana Album
  • The Petty Saints – Best Video, Indie/Alternative Album, Best Indie/Alternative Artist
  • The Verigolds – Album of Year, Pop Album, Best Pop Artist

The annual awards show is set for April 19 on the outdoor concert stage at Humphreys by the Bay. Public voting for the awards, open now online, will continue until 5 p.m. March 15.

Since the show’s inception in 1991, proceeds from the San Diego Music Awards have been used to support music programs in local K-12 schools through the San Diego Music Foundation’s Guitars for Schools program.

Nearly $700,000 in proceeds have been donated to the cause, with instruments going to more than 100 public schools countywide.
