Multiple Earthquakes Shake Southern California, Mexico

The largest temblor was reported as a magnitude 3.9.

BRAWLEY, CA — A magnitude 3.9 earthquake shook Southern California Tuesday afternoon, and others were reported earlier.

The moderate temblor reported at 1:30 p.m. by the U.S. Geological Survey was centered about 4 miles southeast of Brawley in Imperial County. The area is near the border with Mexico.

Just 8 minutes earlier, a magnitude 3.6 quake rocked the region, the USGS reported.

At least one temblor, a magnitude 2.7, has been reported in the area following the two larger jolts.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m. Monday, a magnitude 2.8 earthquake was also reported just south of the area in Delta, Baja California, Mexico.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
