San Diego Area Cities Rank Among Safest Cities In CA: Report

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — Security review website Safewise recently released its ranking of the 50 Safest Cities in California for 2022, and several San Diego area cities landed on the list.

SafeWise looked at FBI crime statistics for each city in California to compile its eighth annual Safest Cities report. A total of 230 cities met criteria to be considered for ranking.

Danville in Northern California, followed by Rancho Santa Margarita in Orange County and Moorpark in Ventura County, ranked as the top three safest cities in the state for the third consecutive year.

Here's how cities in San Diego County ranked in this year's report:

• No. 27: Santee
• No. 28: Encinitas
• No. 54: Carlsbad
• No. 57: Chula Vista
• No. 59: Vista
• No. 87: La Mesa
• No. 99: San Diego
• No. 110: Escondido
• No. 123: Oceanside
• No. 143: El Cajon
• No. 170: National City
