San Diego County Fair Announces 2023 Dates, Theme

SAN DIEGO, CA — Adventure awaits next summer at the 2023 San Diego County Fair.

The 22nd District Agricultural Association, which manages and operates the Del Mar Fairgrounds, announced this week that next year's fair will take place June 7 through July 4 with the theme "Get Out There!"

"Get Out There" will celebrate the diversity of outdoor experiences in San Diego County and California, from the beaches to the deserts and the mountains. The fair will also highlight state and national parks. The annual event will feature a scavenger hunt where fairgoers can earn a merit badge, "fair camp" games, sports and activities, and new takes on classic campfire foods such as flame-cooked barbecue and gourmet s'mores.

Nearly 1 million people attended the San Diego County Fair this summer, after the event's two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year's theme was "Heroes, Re-Unite," which celebrated superheroes from comic books and film and honored local, real-life heroes.

"After a two-year absence due to the pandemic, we were thrilled to bring back a full-scale fair to our community this past summer," said Carlene Moore, CEO of the 22nd District Agricultural Association. "We're looking forward to next year and creating a fun, memorable experience the whole family can take part in together and we hope to help inspire guests to 'get out there' and explore some of the natural beauty around us both near and far."

The 2023 fair will open June 7 and run through July 4. The fair will be closed Mondays and Tuesdays in June.

Admission and ticketed concerts and festivals are expected to go on sale in March 2023.
