San Diego Has 2 Of The Best Restaurants In The Country: Ranking

SAN DIEGO, CA — Two San Diego-area restaurants and eateries are among the top 10 in the country in their categories, according to the Best of the Best Restaurants, according to a ranking from the travel guidance platform Tripadvisor based on customer reviews.

The company’s 2023 Travelers’ Choice Awards ranked eateries both globally and in the United States in seven categories: fine dining, everyday eats, hidden gems, vegetarian, family-friendly, date night and quick bites.

In the San Diego area, Oceana Coastal Kitchen, which offers upscale American cuisine and gorgeous Mission Bay views from the dining room of the Catamaran Resort Hotel, ranked 10th in the country for “Everyday Eats.”

The Taco Stand, a taqueria that started in La Jolla and expanded to downtown San Diego, Encinitas, North Park, and around the country, was ranked ninth best in the country for “quick bites.”

Tripadvisor said in a news release that the rankings are based on traveler reviews left on its website from June 1, 2022, through May 31, 2023. The winners span six continents, 68 countries and 478 destinations, “forming list that appeals to a diversity of tastes,” the company said.

No U.S. restaurants made the top 10 cut in the global rankings. But New York City has more winners than any other destination, Tripadvisor said.
