San Diego Indoor Football Team Ends First Season

The San Diego Strike Force completed their inaugural season with a loss to the undefeated Arizona Rattlers, their 13th loss in 14 games.

SAN DIEGO, CA – The San Diego Strike Force completed their inaugural season with a 57-16 loss to the undefeated Arizona Rattlers Saturday night in Phoenix, their 13th loss in 14 games.

The Strike Force lost their first six games, defeated the Cedar Rapids River Kings, 40-34, on April 14, then lost their final seven games, including 91-58, 52-14 and 84-63 losses to Arizona.

The Strike Force never led Saturday, trailing 14-0 at the end of the first quarter, 28-3 at halftime and 43-9 entering the fourth quarter in the Indoor Football League game.

Jihad Vercher threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to David Carter in the third quarter and a 12-yard touchdown pass to Marques Rodgers in the fourth for the Strike Force while Ernesto Lacayo kicked a 28-yard field goal in the second quarter.

Drew Powell threw two touchdown passes and ran for two scores for the Rattlers (14-0) before a crowd at Talking Stick Resort Arena announced at 14,036.

The Strike Force was outgained, 320 yards to 189 and trailed 20-13 in first downs. They led in time of possession 34:33-25:27.
