San Diego International Kids' Film Festival: Panels and More

We have some exciting announcements for this year’s San Diego International Kids’ Film Festival. We have added a Visual Effects/Animation panel to our schedule. The panel will be led by Oscar winner Cottalango Leon, who was honored with the award for Technical Achievement in 2016. Also included in the panel is film editor Sherwood Jones, who recently worked on ‘Fast Charlie’ starring Pierce Brosnan.

Other panels include the screenwriting panel featuring Regional Emmy winner Tommy Anderson (Take Me Home Huey) and writer/director Dianna Ippolito (The Obscured). In the Working with Asian Films panel, filmmaker and Hollywood Silver Screen Festival executive director Petra Deeter will share her experience of collaborating with Asian film markets. At the Auditions panel, casting director Samuel Warren will teach actors how to give great auditions.

In addition to films, there will also be many incredible performances throughout the weekend. 11 year old prodigy Eva Mather will open the festival with the National Anthem at the Opening Gala. Saturday’s Filmmaker Reception will include the Screenplay Showcase, live performances of some of our screenplay submissions, along with the Maeya Angel beauty pageant. The award ceremony will feature performances by Zachary Simpson, contestant in our film music competition and San Diego’s own Blue Ming Chinese Dance Company.

The team of SDIKFF would like to thank the American Chinese Culture and Education Foundation for their sponsorship. They were one of our earliest supporters when the festival began all those years ago and we are thrilled to be working with them again.

San Diego International Kids’ Film Festival 2024 will be held from August 23 to 25 at the Carlsbad Senior Center and MiraCosta College Theater.
