San Diego Night Market Returns This Weekend

The Asian-influenced event will be held for two days this year instead of one.

San Diego, CA — The San Diego Night Market, an Asian-influenced street food and live entertainment event, returns this weekend to the Convoy District.

The two-day, open-air urban experience similar to the lively markets found in large cities throughout Asia will be held from 4 p.m. to midnight on Saturday and from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday at Kearny Office Park, 8304 Clairemont Mesa Blvd.

“Night markets have historical roots dating back to 836 A.D. I am pleased that the San Diego Night Market will be held in the Convoy District, one of the most culturally rich and ethnically diverse neighborhoods in our region," said San Diego City Councilman Chris Cate, who represents the District 6 area where the event will be held.

From boba drinks and specialty tofu, to ethnic goods and apparel, attendees will discover over 50 vendors selling Asian-inspired street food and merchandise.

"We are excited to bring this Asian-inspired, but uniquely San Diego event back to Convoy, where this signature event could further stimulate economic growth in the area," said Tim Nguyen, board chair of the host organization, Convoy District Partnership.

Centralized within the event will be a performance stage featuring cultural and modern dances, bands, live deejays and other unique entertainment such as a laser show.

There will also be carnival games at the family-friendly event.

"This event has grown to become the largest event of its kind in the region, and we are expecting packed crowds," said Wesley Quach, director of operations. "We urge attendees to use our free parking and shuttle services."

General admission is $2. Fast-pass tickets are available for purchase, which allows attendees to skip the admission line and directly enter the Night Market. To purchase tickets, visit SDNightMarket2016.

Free parking and shuttle services are available at the Spectrum Center parking structure, 8622-8684 Spectrum Center Blvd. Because no parking will be allowed at the event location and adjacent street parking is limited, event organizers also suggest alternate forms of transportation such as public transit, ride-sharing or carpooling.
