San Diego Padres' Blake Snell Wins 2023 NL Cy Young Award
Blake Snell is the fifth Padre to win the award and first since Jake Peavy in 2007.

SAN DIEGO, CA — Padres left-hander Blake Snell won the 2023 National League Cy Young Award in voting by members of the Baseball Writers' Association of America announced Wednesday.
Snell received 28 first-place votes and two second-place votes for 204 voting points. He was the only pitcher listed on each ballot.
Snell had a major-league best 2.25 ERA in 2023, limited opposing hitters to a .181 average and allowed 5.8 hits per nine innings, best in the National League in both categories.

The 30-year-old Snell is the seventh pitcher to win the award in both leagues. He was the 2018 American League Cy Young Award winner when he pitched for the Tampa Bay Rays.
Snell is the fifth Padre to win the award and first since Jake Peavy in 2007.

San Francisco Giants'.right-hander Logan Webb was second with 86 points and one first-place ballot.
Regarding what it means to win a second Cy Young Award, Snell told MLB Network on Wednesday, "It means the work I'm putting in is paying off. It's working and gotta keep chasing it, so being able to win another one is a pretty amazing thing."
