San Diego Police Pursuit Ends In Officer-Involved Shooting

Police fired at a person suspected of stealing a vehicle at gunpoint Saturday night.

SAN DIEGO, CA — Investigators Sunday are looking into the circumstances surrounding last night's officer-involved shooting in San Diego's North Park neighborhood.

Police shot at a person suspected of stealing a vehicle at gunpoint at 9:20 p.m. Saturday near Maryland Street and Madison Avenue, according to media reports.

When police responded, the suspect led them on a car chase, rammed a police vehicle and pointed a handgun at officers, Lt. Martha Sainz of the San Diego Police Department told NBC 7, adding officers fired their weapons in return but nobody was injured.

The gunshots occurred at Howard Avenue and Arizona Street at 9:30 p.m., multiple media outlets reported.

San Diego police officials declined to speak about the incident, since it involves use-of-force.
