SAN DIEGO – San Diego is the fourth-best big city in the country in which to live, according to a ranked list released Tuesday by the personal finance website WalletHub.

WalletHub compared the 62 largest U.S. cities by evaluating their affordability, economic strength, education and health quality, quality of life and safety.

Although San Diego ranked 51st in affordability, America's Finest City ranked among the top 10 cities in education and health, quality of life and safety.

Here's how San Diego fared in each category:

  • Affordability rank: 51
  • Economy rank: 12
  • Education and health rank: 3
  • Quality of life rank: 4
  • Safety rank: 9
  • Total score: 63.80 / 100

Virginia Beach, Virginia, landed at the top of the list, followed by Austin, Texas, and Seattle, Washington. After San Diego at fourth, Las Vegas, Nevada, rounded out the top five. Detroit, Michigan, ranked at the very bottom of the list.
