San Diego Residents Set Guinness World Records In 2020

Californians worked to earn Guinness World Records in 2020, including across San Diego! What record would you want to make or break in 2021!

SAN DIEGO, CA —A Coronado woman now holds a Guinness World Record for being the oldest competitive rope skipping contestant. A set of siblings from Carlsbad holds the record for the oldest living triplets! Californians worked to earn Guinness World Records in 2020. What do you think of when you have to stay home for several months? Practicing jump shots? Perhaps the most toilet paper hoarded in a single household? Or how about the person who has sneezed the most, or the least, in an entire year?

The Guinness World Records remains the gold standard for measuring feats of strength, endurance, and the out of this world odd. In 2020, Guinness World Records were attempted, held, or broken by Californians across the state as they battled pandemic boredom.

In San Diego County, a few stood out in Patch's Top 20 Guinness World Records broken in 2020.

In Coronado, Annie Judis did her best to make this coronavirus shutdown year a little bit more bearable by attempting to become the World's Oldest Competitive Rope Skipper.

Judis was 76 years and 99 days old when she entered an American Jump Rope Federation sanctioned event in Coronado. She won the record for the Oldest Competitive Rope Skipper when she competed in the Southern California Open Jump Rope Championship in Coronado, California. That event was held on Feb. 29, 2020.

  • The World's Record For Oldest Living Triplets: Betty (Hocky) Woolf, Joseph Hocky, Minna (Hocky) Passman of Carlsbad, California.

In 2020, these siblings shared a beautiful moment in Carlsbad. On the day they turned 93 years, 174 days old, they won the record for the oldest living triplets. The trio was born in 1927 in New York City. Though they live on different coasts, they still got together amid the coronavirus pandemic to celebrate this milestone celebration. They also get together annually to celebrate their birthday.
