Poway Unified Teacher Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Student: Police

Police are seeking witnesses and potential victims.

SAN DIEGO, CA — A Poway Unified School District teacher was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a student, authorities said Thursday.

Stacy Michelle Walker, 40, a teacher at Mt. Carmel High School, was accused of sexually assaulting a student from 2017 to 2019, according to the San Diego Police Department. Walker "began engaging the 15-year-old victim in conversations that became sexual in nature," police said in a news release.

"The victim and suspect then exchanged numerous photographs, videos, and explicit text messages," police said. "Walker also met with the victim several times and engaged in various sex acts. The sexual assaults continued until after the victim turned 18 years old."

The victim reported the assaults on July 31, 2023.

Walker was arrested and booked Wednesday into Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility in Santee on suspicion of 17 felony counts, including luring a minor for sexual purposes, oral copulation of a minor, sodomy and sexual penetration of a minor with a foreign object.
