San Diego Woman Conceives Naturally After Being Told IVF Was Her Only Option

After nearly three years of trying to conceive and receiving a diagnosis of blocked fallopian tubes, a San Diego woman was told that in vitro fertilization (IVF) would be her only chance of becoming pregnant. Instead, she experienced an unexpected outcome through a traditional form of abdominal bodywork offered locally.

The woman sought care at Rebirth Massage, a women’s wellness center that focuses on fertility support, prenatal care, and postpartum healing. Through a series of Mayan abdominal massage sessions — a noninvasive technique rooted in ancient healing traditions — she conceived naturally within several months.

“I had been trying to get pregnant for almost three years,” the client shared. “Doctors told me IVF was my only option because my tubes were blocked. After working with abdominal massage and following the guidance I was given, I became pregnant. When I called my doctors, they were shocked.”

Mayan abdominal massage is an external therapy intended to support pelvic circulation, lymphatic drainage, and alignment of reproductive organs. While not a medical treatment, it is often used by individuals seeking complementary wellness approaches alongside conventional fertility care.

Rebirth Massage has served the San Diego community since 2011 and works with women at many stages of reproductive health, including those navigating fertility challenges, pregnancy, and postpartum recovery. The center emphasizes collaboration with licensed medical providers and does not position its services as a replacement for medical care.

“Every fertility journey is different,” said founder Joanna Yañez, a certified massage therapist, herbalist, and doula. “Our role is to support the body and provide education, not to replace medical treatment. Many clients come to us feeling overwhelmed and simply looking for additional support.”

Stories like this reflect a growing interest among San Diego residents in integrative and holistic wellness options, particularly for reproductive health. As fertility challenges continue to affect many families, some are exploring complementary approaches that focus on stress reduction, pelvic health, and overall wellbeing.

Rebirth Massage is located in Mission Valley and serves clients throughout San Diego County.
