San Diego Zoo Extends Hours For 'Nighttime Zoo' Summertime Experience

The zoo is open later for live music, family-friendly entertainment and wildlife experiences.

SAN DIEGO, CA — The San Diego Zoo has extended its hours for this summer's "Nighttime Zoo" experience.

The zoo is open later for live music, family-friendly entertainment and wildlife experiences.

Dr. Zoolittle is back this summer with an interactive presentation exploring nature and conservation at Wildlife Explorers Basecamp Stage.

Nighttime Zoo will also feature whimsical wildlife performers and wildlife puppets, including the performance "Jambo Dunia!," where live music, wildlife puppets, dancers and acrobats come together for a celebration of Africa's savannas.

"Bounce-a-Roo Bonanza," a trampoline acrobatics show, is new this year.

There will also be live music from Rock & Roar, the zoo's in-house rock and pop band, as well as brass ensemble The Chameleons and a cappella group The Explorers. Vibrant Rhythms, which features musicians and dancers who showcase music from across East Africa, is also slated to perform.

The summertime program runs through Sept. 2. The zoo will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, excluding Aug. 22. Nighttime Zoo activities begin at 4 p.m. daily.
