SAN DIEGO — SeaWorld San Diego is offering military veterans and their families free admission through Veterans Day, the theme park announced.

The special offer was originally scheduled to run May 20 through July 15, but the theme park extended it due to its popularity, according to SeaWorld officials.

The theme park currently offers free admission year-round to active-duty military members through its Waves of Honor program, which SeaWorld Entertainment implemented in 2003.

"As the mother of a military veteran, I'm proud of his service and all those who served our nation," said Marilyn Hannes, SeaWorld San Diego's park president.

"As they have made countless sacrifices for us, I'm delighted to show our continued appreciation by extending our offer of free admission where they can create lifelong memories with their families and friends at the park."
