Four-Time Spectrum Employee Community Grant Winner Will Feed More Families in San Diego

Spectrum announced a donation of $10,000 to Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank through the company’s national community philanthropic program, Spectrum Employee Community Grants.

This is the fourth Spectrum Employee Community Grant awarded to nonprofit, bringing the total donation to $25,000 for the organization from Charter Communications.

The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank is located in San Diego and addresses hunger by increasing public awareness about the issues, providing food assistance and resources at locations throughout San Diego County, and advocating for federal and state programs and policies that support low-income community members.

The $10,000 Spectrum Employee Community Grant award was presented on September 19 to Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank at their headquarters in San Diego. Lauren Hirschmann, Community Engagement Coordinator for Councilmember Marni von Wilpert’s office participated in the celebration with Spectrum executives.

“The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank has been a pillar of this community, making sure no family goes hungry,” said Councilmember Marni von Wilpert. “I commend Spectrum for supporting this critical work and for empowering employees to champion the causes they care about.”

Spectrum employee Vincent Saloio nominated the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank.

“I nominated Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank because they are a lifeline for thousands of families across San Diego,” said Vincent Saloio, Spectrum Community Solutions Chat Representative. “Their dedication to fighting hunger and providing access to healthy food is inspiring, and I’m proud that Spectrum is helping support their mission.”

“We are incredibly grateful to Spectrum and their employee grant program for their generous donation to the San Diego Food Bank,” said Casey Castillo, CEO of the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank. “This contribution will help us continue providing food and essential resources to those in need throughout our community. Thank you, Spectrum, for your continued support.”

Spectrum Employee Community Grants have provided funding to more than 600 local nonprofits in 35 states throughout the company’s service area since its inception in July 2019.

“Through Spectrum Employee Community Grants, we’re proud to provide support to vital community organizations with which our employees are already volunteering their time and talent,” said Keri Askew Bailey, Group Vice President of Government Affairs for Spectrum. “Together, we’re building stronger communities where our customers and employees live and work across Southern California.”

Recipients deliver critical social services, helping underserved residents meet basic needs, including food, shelter, clothing, job training and neighborhood safety. Each awardee is nominated by one of the company’s 95,000 U.S. employees who has volunteered with the organization for at least one year.
