Speeding Motorcyclist Killed In Crash In Ramona

The 24-year-old​ Ramona man was taken to a hospital, where he died, according to the CHP.

RAMONA, CA — A speeding motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Ramona, authorities said Monday.

The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. Friday on 3rd Street, north of G Street, according to the California Highway Patrol. The 24-year-old Ramona man was riding a 2015 Triumph motorcycle southbound on 3rd Street.

"Due to the rider's unsafe speed, the rider lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to overturn and the rider to be ejected from the motorcycle," CHP Officer Jared Grieshaber said. "The rider and
motorcycle slid off the east side of the roadway and landed at the bottom of a rock and concrete
drainage ditch."

The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital, where he died, Grieshaber said. The rider, whose name was not disclosed, was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were factors in
the crash, Grieshaber said.
