Storm Brings Heavy Rain, Prompts Road And Other Closures In San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA — Some businesses, government facilities, parks and roads were closed Tuesday as a slow-moving storm brought more rain and flooding to the San Diego region.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department urged drivers to avoid driving but offered safety tips for those that must travel:

  • Stay home if possible.
  • Fill up your gas tank.
  • Check your wipers and tires.
  • Pull over if needed.
  • Keep your headlights on when using your windshield wipers.
  • Avoid flooded areas.
  • Check for other road hazards.

BUSINESSES

  • Angry Pete's Pizza at Santee Lakes was closed Tuesday.
  • SeaWorld San Diego was closed Tuesday.

GOVERNMENT FACILITIES

  • After being closed Monday and early Tuesday, the city of San Diego's local assistance center reopened at 1 p.m. Tuesday for residents impacted by the recent storms. The center is located at the Mountain View Community Recreation Center at 641 South Boundary St. The center will remain open until 7 p.m. Tuesday and open again from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.
  • Four city of San Diego donation sites at Mountain View/Beckwourth Library, College-Rolando Library, Southcrest Recreation Center and Encanto Recreation Center were closed Tuesday.

4S Ranch

  • As of 1:18 a.m. Tuesday, Campania Avenue was closed from Castello Circle to Camino San Thomas.

Fallbrook

  • As of 10:28 p.m. Monday, De Luz Road and De Luz Murrieta were closed. The dips were closed from De Luz Roadto the other side, as well as De Luz Murrieta at the schoolhouse dip to the Riverside County line.
  • As of 7:41 p.m. Monday, Sandia Creek was closed from Rock Mountain Road to the San Margarita Preserve entrance.

Oceanside

  • As of Tuesday morning, the eastbound SR-78 El Camino Real onramp remained closed due to flooding.
