Suspect Jailed In Fatal Logan Heights Shooting

SAN DIEGO, CA — A suspect was behind bars Wednesday in connection with a fatal shooting in Logan Heights, authorities reported.

Patrol officers responding to reports of gunfire shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday found a 46-year-old man mortally wounded at an apartment complex in the 3100 block of Webster Avenue, south of Imperial Avenue and west of state Route 15, according to the San Diego Police Department.

"Officers detained three individuals in the apartment complex after witnesses reported they were involved in an altercation with the victim just prior to the shooting," SDPD acting Lt. Christopher Leahy said.

Paramedics, meanwhile, took the victim to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name was withheld pending family notification.

After interviewing the detainees, detectives arrested one of them, identified as 23-year-old Jamie Lee Roberts, on suspicion of firing the fatal shots.

"Preliminary investigation indicates all involved parties are known to one another and the decedent was involved in a romantic relationship with one of the people detained," Leahy said.

Roberts was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of first- degree murder. He was being held without bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Friday afternoon.
