Suspected Prowler Arrested In San Diego's College Area

The woman reported this was the third time a prowler was seen at her home in the last week.

SAN DIEGO, CA — A suspected prowler was arrested Valentine's Day in San Diego, authorities said Thursday.

The man, identified as Ilmer Cortez-Diaz, was spotted around 8:13 p.m. in the backyard of a woman's home on Adobe Drive, according to the San Diego Police Department. The resident reported this was the third time a prowler was seen at her home in the last week.

Air Borne Law Enforcement arrived in the area within two minutes and found the suspect jumping over fences in backyards trying to evade officers, police said. ABLE followed Cortez-Diaz until he was detained by officers in the canyon behind East Falls View Drive.

The victim gave officers Ring footage from the first incident on Monday, which showed a man who matched the description of Cortez-Diaz. Police said he was seen hiding in an area of the woman's backyard that provided concealment and a position to look through the bedroom window and sliding glass door of her home.

Cortez-Diaz was arrested on suspicion of peeping and obstructing/resisting a peace officer, police said.
