SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — Patch reader and local photographer Bob Thompson captured this photo of a swallowtail butterfly at Palomar Mountain State Park.

"This swallowtail butterfly was flitting so gracefully through the air, along the trail, just past Doan Pond at Palomar Mountain State Park," Thompson said.
