Thousands Without Power Amid Multiple Outages In San Diego County

The outages happened as strong winds and stormy weather impacted the region.

CHULA VISTA, CA — Thousands of San Diego Gas & Electric customers were without power Wednesday morning following multiple outages reported across the region.

The main outages were reported around 7 a.m. Wednesday in the Chula Vista area, according to the utility.

At least 4,400 customers were without service as of 8:15 a.m., with restoration estimated by 11 a.m., SDG&E officials said. As of 10:05 a.m., 1,170 customers were still without power in Chula Vista.

Smaller outages also affected customers in Encinitas, El Cajon, Lemon Grove, Palomar Mountain, Pauma Valley and Valley Center.

Most of the outages were related to strong winds and stormy weather in the region, while the cause of some of the outages was not immediately known.
