Tips Sought After Kitten Thrown From Moving Car In San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA — The San Diego Humane Society is seeking the public's help in a felony animal cruelty case involving a kitten who was allegedly thrown from a car in San Diego.

The kitten was reportedly thrown from the passenger side of a moving car around 7 p.m. Sunday in the Carmel Mountain Ranch area of San Diego, the Humane Society announced Wednesday. The grey sedan was seen traveling westbound on Camino Del Norte, near Carmel Mountain Road.

A good Samaritan rescued the 7-week-old kitten, who was unable to use her back legs. Her injuries were so severe that she needed to be euthanized, according to the Humane Society.

"We're hoping someone may know something about this particular case," said Humane Law Enforcement Operations Captain Danee Cook. "The time, location, grey car — anything that can help our investigating officers. We also want to encourage the owner or owners to contact us to discuss this case."

San Diego County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest in this case. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477 or sdcrimestoppers.org. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
