Tips Sought In Sex Assault In Lincoln Acres​ Community

The 16-year-old victim suffered minor injuries in the attack, officials said.

SAN DIEGO, CA — Authorities were seeking the public's help in identifying a man who tried to sexually assault a teenage girl last week in the unincorporated community of Lincoln Acres.

The man tackled the 16-year-old victim shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, as she was walking in the 2900 block of Prospect Street near Sweetwater Road, according to the San Diego Country Sheriff's Department.

The girl fought off the man and ran away, but he chased her down, tackled her again and tried to sexually assault her, according to the sheriff's department. A witness intervened and the suspect ran away with victim's phone. He was last seen running toward a gas station on Sweetwater Road.

Authorities released new photos of the suspect Monday. The suspect, who appeared to be about 18 years old, was described as a roughly 5-foot-11, 180-pound Latino man with short curly hair. He was wearing a tan shirt with a torn collar and khaki pants.
