Train Hits, Kills Pedestrian In San Diego's Little Italy
Medics took the unidentified woman to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

SAN DIEGO, CA – A passenger train struck and killed a pedestrian Thursday on a stretch of bayside tracks near Lindbergh Field.
The woman was walking between the rails near West Hawthorn Street in Little Italy when the southbound Amtrak train approached at about 40 mph shortly before noon, according to sheriff's officials.
"The engineer activated emergency braking but was unable to stop before the train collided with the (pedestrian)," Deputy Marcus Levine said.
