Trash Dumpster Fire Leads To Evacuation At National City Hotel

All guests and employees at the Best Western Marina Gateway Hotel were evacuated and nobody was reported injured.

NATIONAL CITY, CA — A fire that started in a trash dumpster caused the evacuation of a hotel Thursday, authorities said.

The trash dumpster at the Best Western Marina Gateway Hotel, 800 Bay Marina Drive, was reported at 3:40 a.m. Thursday, according to a National City Fire Department battalion chief.

Firefighters arrived on scene and were able to quickly put the fire out, the battalion chief told OnScene TV.

The fire burned into the trash bin structure, broke out a window of a hotel room on the first floor, and smoke went up the hotel's side, the video news service said.

All hotel guests and employees were evacuated and nobody was reported injured.
