Extreme heat can significantly increase the potential for heat-related illness, particularly for people working or participating in outdoor activities. The NWS recommends those who work or spend time outside to take extra precautions, and when possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
People should drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
