Victim Of Deadly City Heights Shooting ID'd
Police have released no suspected motive for the deadly gunfire.
SAN DIEGO, CA — Authorities Thursday publicly identified a 35-year-old man who was killed this week in a shooting near Manzanita Canyon.
Patrol personnel responding to reports of gunfire shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday arrived to find a good Samaritan giving first-aid to Cedrick Cruz of San Diego in a residential front yard in the 3200 block of 40th Street in the Castle area of City Heights, according to police.
Officers took over the lifesaving attempts prior to the arrival of paramedics, who transported Cruz to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Lt. Jud Campbell said.

Witnesses told police the unidentified suspect, described as a teenage boy or young man in a blue hooded sweatshirt, ran off to the north following the shooting.
Police have released no suspected motive for the deadly gunfire.

"At this time information is very limited, but it appears there may (have been) some type of relationship between the (shooter) and the victim in this incident," Campbell said Thursday afternoon. "However, the exact nature of that relationship has not been determined or confirmed at this time."
