Werewolf Tops Yelp's First List Of San Diego's Most Popular Restaurants

SAN DIEGO, CA – Though known for its beautiful beaches and gorgeous year-round weather, San Diego is also home to some of the most incredible – and popular – restaurants.

Looking to make your next reservation? Yelp recently released its inaugural ranking of the 30 Most Popular Restaurants to Make a Reservation in San Diego.

Longtime landmarks like Tom Ham's Lighthouse and newer local favs such as celebrity Chef Richard Blais' Juniper & Ivy, of course, made the cut. But it was Werewolf, a self-proclaimed "upscale dive bar," that topped the list.

"We consider ourselves an upscale neighborhood dive bar with great food, and to be on the top of the list with so many other great restaurants feels really good," said Stacy Simmons, regional manager of the restaurant group and general manager of Werewolf. "Our goal is to make sure everyone leaves happy, and we will always try our best!"

Located in downtown San Diego, Werewolf offers karaoke nights Monday through Friday, all-you-can-eat tacos every Tuesday, and a "super brunch" until 1 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday.

Only restaurants that take reservations were included in the list, but it wasn't the only criteria required for a coveted spot.

Yelp ranked its top spots by identifying local, non-chain restaurants that take reservations, based on mobile page views over a 30-day period. Only businesses with a 4-star rating or higher and at least 150 reviews were considered.

Werewolf, which opened in February 2014, has nearly 2,000 reviews on Yelp and a near-perfect 4.5-star rating. That's out of five stars.
