Winter Storm Warning In Effect For San Diego County Mountains

"Travel could be very difficult," forecasters warned.

SAN DIEGO, CA — More snow is expected to fall Thursday in the mountain areas of San Diego County.

A winter storm warning is in effect until noon Thursday for the county mountains above 4,500 feet. Heavy, wet snow is expected, with additional snow accumulations of up to 4 inches, according to the National Weather Service. Wind gusts could reach as high as 65 mph.

"Travel could be very difficult," forecasters warned. "The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute. Strong winds could cause tree damage."

Weather officials advised residents who must travel to keep an extra flashlight, food and water in their vehicles in case of an emergency.

"Scattered snow showers will continue through Friday, but with additional snowfall of a few inches or less," the NWS said.
