Woman Fatally Struck Car On I-805 In Mount Hope

An unidentified woman was struck and killed by a car Thursday on Interstate 805 in the Mount Hope area.

SAN DIEGO, CA — An unidentified woman was struck and killed by a car Thursday on Interstate 805 in the Mount Hope area.

The pedestrian was trying to cross the southbound lanes of the freeway north of Market Street when the Toyota Corolla hit her about 4 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

The woman died at the scene, CHP public-affairs Officer Salvador Castro said. No other injuries were reported.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office took custody of the victim's body for identification and autopsy purposes.

The fatality forced a closure of the two right-hand southbound lanes of the freeway in the area for about two hours, Castro said.
