Woman Killed in Intentional Hit And Run Near City Heights: Police

SAN DIEGO, CA: A hit and run near City Heights in the Corridor area of San Diego that left a woman dead Wednesday morning was intentional, police said.

Homicide detectives as of late Wednesday afternoon were interviewing residents and collecting evidence in an alleyway in the 4100 block of Wilson Avenue where the fatal collision occurred, with the west part of the alley expected to be shut down until about 8 p.m., San Diego police Lt. Manny Del Toro said in a news release.

Del Toro said officers responded about 10 a.m. to the area after receiving reports of a pedestrian-involved vehicle collision.

"Police, Fire Department and medics arrived and they located a Hispanic female under a vehicle with extensive injuries to her upper body," Del Toro said. "Emergency personnel were able to pull her out from underneath the vehicle and administered first aid. Despite diligent efforts, the female died at the scene.

"After gathering witness statements and assessing the scene, it appeared the driver of the vehicle intentionally drove into the female."

The San Diego Police Department Homicide Unit was called to investigate the incident since it appears the vehicle was used as a weapon to kill the victim, according to the lieutenant.

Two Hispanic men in their 20s and a Hispanic woman possibly covered in blood, fled the scene of the incident on foot by running southbound in the alley, Del Toro said.

The victim’s identity was not known as of publication time.
