Woman Seriously Injured In City Heights Attack

The woman's large head wound was believed to be non-life-threatening.

SAN DIEGO, CA — A person was seriously injured in the head Tuesday when attacked in a City Heights park by a man wielding a sword, police said.

Just before 2 a.m. Tuesday, the San Diego Police Department responded to a Starbucks coffee shop in the 3800 block of Fairmount Avenue where a heavily bleeding woman was banging on the door, according to SDPD Officer Sarah Foster.

The victim said they were hit on the head with a sword while at a picnic table in Kenwood Memorial Park on Wightman Street, the officer said. The suspect left the area in an unknown direction.
