Woman Struck By Vehicle While Crossing North Park Intersection

A 47-year-old woman was struck and seriously injured by a vehicle as she attempted to cross a North Park street, police said.

SAN DIEGO — A 47-year-old woman was struck and seriously injured by a vehicle as she attempted to cross a North Park street, police said Tuesday.

The collision happened around 2:50 p.m. Monday at the intersection of North Park Way and 31st Street, San Diego police Officer John Buttle said.

A 47-year-old man driving a 2014 Toyota Corolla made a left turn from westbound North Park Way onto 31st Street and struck the woman as she was crossing 31st Street on the south side of North Park Way, Buttle said.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of a skull fracture, facial injuries and a brain bleed that required surgery, the officer said. An update on the woman's condition was not immediately available.

The driver remained at the scene and intoxication was not believed to have been a factor in the crash, Buttle said.
