📰 News we're reading

• San Fernando Loses 37-7 Season Opener to Heritage Christian (sanfernandosun.com) — San Fernando High's Tigers opened their football season with a tough 37-7 home loss to Heritage Christian, struggling on both sides of the ball while missing several key players. Still, emerging standouts on defense and special teams offer hope as the Tigers quickly regroup to host the Poly Parrots next week at Kevin Williams Stadium.

• Light-rail project in San Fernando Valley awarded $2.4 billion for construction (dailynews.com) — A massive $2.43 billion contract will fund the first phase of LA Metro's East San Fernando Valley light-rail line, running up Van Nuys Boulevard toward San Fernando Road in Pacoima. A second phase under study would extend service directly into San Fernando, promising faster, more reliable transit for car-free residents across the northeast Valley by 2031.
