SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A San Francisco lawmaker is pushing for the return of "dog court" amid an increase in canine bites across the city, according to a report from ABC7.

"At the end of the day, when dog bites are on the rise and we don't have a hearings officer to deal with that, that is a massive problem," San Francisco Supervisor Stephen Sherrill, who is pushing for the return of the program, told ABC7 news. "And I don't think it's appropriate."

The dog court program has been on pause for nearly a year as the city has yet to find an administrative hearing officer, according to the report.

There are currently 61 dog-bite cases awaiting trial in San Francsico, according to SFist.
