Today's riddle: Knock-knock! Who’s there? Irish. Irish who? 🤔 (Answer below!)
Weather forecast:
1. Clinic workers push back against San Francisco budget cuts (ktvu.com) — San Francisco clinic workers are fighting proposed budget cuts that would close two youth clinics and the city’s only geriatric clinic, forcing patients to shift care elsewhere. SFDPH, under a $40 million cut order, says it will reassign staff and ensure a seamless transition, while clinicians warn seniors and vulnerable youth could lose trusted, community-based support as soon as August.
2. San Francisco Immigration Court halts hearings ahead of closure (ktvu.com) — San Francisco’s immigration court at 100 Montgomery St. has already halted hearings months before its Sept. 4 closure, pushing many cases to Concord and deepening massive backlogs. That shift could delay asylum, green card, and deportation decisions for thousands of immigrants in the Bay Area, leaving families in legal limbo for years.
3. CALIFORNIA: San Francisco tech billionaire pushes to restore Dungeness crab season for Thanksgiving (savingseafood.org) — A San Francisco tech billionaire is backing a push to restore the traditional mid-November start of California’s Dungeness crab season so local crab is available by Thanksgiving. He argues the change would better support struggling fishermen while still protecting whales, after recent years of delayed openings cut into their most profitable weeks.
4. Police trap dozens of motorcyclists during takeover on California bridge (fox40.com) — A coordinated police operation by San Francisco, Oakland, and CHP officers trapped dozens of dirt-bike and ATV riders on the Bay Bridge after they rode through San Francisco streets on Sunday. Nine people were arrested, two guns were seized, and eastbound bridge traffic was heavily delayed as officers blocked exits and impounded more than 70 bikes and several vehicles.
5. Pregame transactions help spark Giants to skid-ending win (statenews.net) — San Francisco Giants fans finally saw the team snap a brutal six-game skid at home, thanks to a dominant seven-inning, one-run start from call-up Trevor McDonald. The Giants also promoted top prospects Bryce Eldridge and Jesus Rodriguez from Triple-A Sacramento, shuffling the roster in hopes of jump-starting one of MLB’s weakest offenses under first-year manager Tony Vitello.
